Go Overseas - Repaying Student Loan
One of the main options that students exercise in repaying loan is to take up employment overseas. This helps them earn more then the average salary in New Zealand for any skill set . These students while going overseas only have to commit a certain amount as basic repayment.
This leaves all the graduates employed in New Zealand on the backfoot. So for any reason if the student is not able to go overseas, it works to their disadvantage. Not only does the country get to lose more due to brain drain but also the ones who stay back to work in New Zealand get squeezed more.
Students in New Zealand are very entrepreneurial , however enterprising instincts take a back seat as one has to face the financial crunch in the face before starting to work on building a better business. So if your circumstances allow you to go overseas, earn more and repay the loan sooner, please do consider yourself fortunate grab the opportunity hands down.

Understanding Student Loan
Student Loan - I
Tertiary Education in NZ is funded by student fees and also some soft subsidies provided by the government. Students undertaking tertiary education get support of funding their education through student loans to aid the education and living expenses.
NZ tertiary education is not cheap in fact the fees is steep by any standards, while the universities stick to the fee saying it is required to maintain quality and standards, student have to bear the burden by taking a loan more often then not.
Student loans
The student loan is available to all New Zealand citizens and even permanent residents and it is issues to cover direct fee, related expenditure and also a bit of allowance as the education is mostly full time. The loan has to be repaid depending on the income of the tertiary education qualified student once he or she gets a full time job . The recovery or repayment of loan is made through Inland Revenue Department by deducting the repayment amount from the amount earned in salaries and wages. Previously , to support the scheme even further, lower bracket and unemployed students graduated could have the interest component taken off their student loan.Banks can help you with student loans.
However after Labour govt got re elected, they fulfilled the promise and waived the interest completely from student loan.
Stay tuned to know how to get a student loan, how to manage your loan, and how banks help you fund your education.
